Controller

Controller

Phase One PAS280 large format Camera system

The PAS 280 4-Band Camera System manufactured by Phase One is a high-performance aerial imaging solution designed for large-area mapping projects and corridor mapping projects. WingMan will acquire RGBN aerial imagery using Phase One PAS280 Large format Camera system.

• Combines dual 90mm RGB lenses with a 50mm NIR lens.

• Enables simultaneous capture of Red, Green, Blue, and Near-Infrared (NIR) bands.

• 2 frames per second capture rate

iXM-RS280F – 90mm RGB –

WIDE Mode --20,150w x 14,118 pix

STRIP Mode --14,118w x 20,150 pix

iXM-R150 – 50mm NIR Achromatic – 14,204 x 10,652 pixels

Controller

   Phase One MK5 controller

• The Phase One iX Controller MK5 is a powerful and integrated onboard computer system designed to manage and streamline aerial imaging operations. It plays a central role in Phase One’s PAS 280 system acting as it’s command center. The controller manages:

• Camera operations of the PAS 280

• Applanix AP610 GNSS/IMU integration

• SOMAG GSM 4000 Stabilization mount

• Data acquisition and onboard storage of up to 8 TB

GNSS/IMU

AP610 (IMU – 57)

Highest accuracy iXController with integrated Applanix GNSS-Inertial

• Applanix 610 Inertial Measurement Unit is a high-performance GNSS-Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) system designed specifically for aerial mapping and direct georeferencing. The 610 IMU offers a range of benefits that make it ideal for demanding aerial survey missions:

• Provides extremely accurate position and orientation data for airborne sensors

• Reduces the amount of control points required for aerotriangulation, significantly reducing fieldwork and processing time

• Post-processed accuracy:

• Horizontal: 2–5 cm RMS

• Vertical: 5–10 cm RMS

• Roll & Pitch: 0.0025°

• True Heading: 0.005°

Mount

  SOMAG GSM4000 mount

The GSM 4000 Gyro Stabilization Mount by SOMAG is a top-tier stabilization platform designed for large-format airborne sensors. When paired with the PAS 280, it offers a range of benefits that significantly enhance image quality, operational efficiency, and data reliability. Also by maintaining a perfectly level sensor orientation the GSM 4000 reduces the need for excessive image overlap and increases flight efficiency over large areas.

• 3-axis hydraulic gimbal system with four cylinders and two servo pumps.

• Compensates for roll, pitch, and yaw in real time.

• Achieves residual deviation from perpendicular as low as 0.02° RMS with IMU support

WingMan will utilize the AOI or Corridor centerline KML/SHP file provided by the client to design the flight plan required for image acquisition. We employ iX Suite (Plan, Flight, Process), Global Mapper, and Google Earth software to develop detailed flight plans. Additionally, we coordinate with aircraft partners to obtain quotes for image acquisition, ensuring that clients receive precise project acquisition and service cost estimates.

Flight Project Planning

The flight plan developed using iX Plan will be uploaded to the on-board mission software, iX Flight Pro. This is done utilizing the MK5 controller along with the GSM4000 SOMAG mount on the aircraft to facilitate accurate Raw (Level-0) imagery acquisition.

The mission is then loaded into IX Process, which facilitates the preprocessing of IIQ files into stitched, uncompressed tiled TIF formats for Ortho-ready (Level-1) imagery. These images can then be ingested into sophisticated photogrammetry software like Trimble's Inpho or SimActive's Correlator 3D, for the generation of the final Orthorectified (Level-2) mosaic image tiles.  By leveraging refined RTX exterior orientation (EO) processing via Applanix POSPAC software and integrating our highest accuracy Applanix IMU, we significantly minimize the need for ground control.
